Closet Feature on Home Day

May 8, 2008

Our friends at City Line have featured another one of our projects this week. We recently did a reach-in closet for Karen Sealy - our original design of the space is below.

This closet was built using a wood colored melamine finish called “Secret”, and features mixing hanging of long and short, deep drawers for clothing, a shallow drawer for jewelry and a pull out surface for folding clothes on. We also created a tower for storing shoes and purses. The drawers feature standard ball bearing full extension slides, and flat fronts with brushed metal pulls for a contemporary look. A closet like this will typically cost around $2000, including installation and taxes.

Of course, our melamine closets are completely custom-produced for you from the bottom up, so whether you want a solution indentical to this one, or would like to consider this a jumping off point to have your own space redone, please use our Appointment Request Form to request an in-home consultation, or use the phone numbers at the bottom of this page.  If you would like more information, please email us.

Today on CityTv City Line’s Home Day did a feature on the Laundry Room featuring some of our products. Here’s some information about what was shown, and how to order.

This Ironing Board Cabinet sits against the wall at floor level. The cabinet features a cutout at the base that should clear most baseboards, and gets secured against the wall to prevent tipping. Available both in white as shown, as well as in an unfinished paintable wood, the cabinet features a door that slides to the side, revealing a pull up ironing board. The cabinet itself is 17.75″ wide, 43.5″ high and 6″ deep. The 15″ x 35″ board has a steel frame and adjusts to different heights between 35″ and 38.5″ for ironing. This unit retails for $250 (for either finish) and can take 2 to 3 weeks to get in as a special order.

This Ironing Board Cabinet mounts to the wall, and features a drop down board inside. The cabinet comes with an unfinished birch door, which may be painted or stained to suit the decor. The cabinet is 14.5″ wide, 3.25″ deep and 48″ high. The cabinet is sized so that if desired, you may embed it into the wall and mount between studs. The board is 42″ long. This cabinet retails for $350 and can generally be available within a week as a special order. Other variations are available that feature a storage shelf inside or with a transformer so it could be wired into the house wiring. These other variations retail from $750 to $1100.

This pull down valet rack mounts to the wall and provides a temporary hanging space in the laundry room, ideal for transferring garments out of the dryer, or for storing while you iron. The valet comes in chrome and is generally in stock in our stores, and retails for $35.

We offer many other items for the laundry room, many of which may be viewed and purchased through our web store - click on the shop online tab above. We carry hampers, drying racks and storage units for detergent and the like. Of course we can also build cabinets and shelving systems in your laundry room to suit. If you are interested in purchasing any of the items shown above, or if you would like more information, please contact us to arrange.

Update August 7, 2008: this episode was re-aired today.  The products and prices are still valid.
