Space Solutions Murphy Beds in The Toronto Star

May 17, 2010

murphy1.jpg

This past weekend, The Toronto Star’s Your Home section featured any article about Murphy Beds. Our own Barb Larocque was interviewed for it, and provided some good information about our beds and the blossoming interest in them.  Even about a year ago, we were installing a Murphy Bed perhaps once a month; right now, we are closer to once a week, and the installations go smoother than ever before.  The bed pictures used in the article are of our Queen Size display bed, which you can see in person at our showroom.  To see the article, click here.

Garage Renovation in The Toronto Star

May 15, 2010

There’s a great article in today’s Toronto Star about a Garage makeover by HGTV’s Colin and Justin.  It’s a great Before and After piece, showing how you can reclaim that space!  Many of the products shown - overhead storage, slat wall and cabinets - are available from us.  In fact, our StoreWALL product is a more versatile product than the slat wall they used in this reno, coming in more colors and with more accessories.  The cabinet line they used is RedLine garagegear, for which Space Solutions is the exclusive Toronto dealer.  We have garagegear cabinets and StoreWALL on display in our showroom - visit our Garages page to learn more about what we do for garage storage!

Space Solutions at The Zoomer Show

October 28, 2009

This coming weekend we will be exhibiting a Queen size Murphy bed cabinet at the Zoomer Show at The Direct Energy Centre at the CNE grounds.  The show runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 31 and Nov 1, and it’s a fabulous lifestyle show with lots of great booths and exhibits and information.  For more on the Zoomer Show, visit their website: http://www.zoomershow.ca/2009/media/  From Wednesday October 28, through Monday November 2nd, we will not have a Murphy Bed on display in our showroom - as we are sending it to the show.  Admission to the show starts at $8.00 + gst for one, with cheaper rates for bulk purchases - but if you come by our showroom, you can pick up a free pass for admission for two!  Thank you to the great folks at Classical 96.3 FM for putting this on - and click here to listen to the fantastic radio spot they’ve put together for us: Classical 963fm spot

We’ll also be presenting a simple closet at Marilyn Wetston’s booth at The Zoomer Show.  Marilyn’s show, From A Woman’s Perspective, runs every Saturday morning from 8 to 9 am on their sister station, AM740.  Barb Larocque, the owner of Space Solutions, is a frequent guest on Marilyn’s show, and is happy to contribute to her booth as well.Queen Murphy

Garage Organizing In The News

August 22, 2009

redlinepostarticle.jpg

There’s a terrific article in today’s National Post about Garage Organization, prominently featuring our RedLine garagegear cabinets, StoreWALL slat wall panels and other options.  As the article notes, we are the pros when it comes to layout and installation, and are always ready to help with your garage project.  Here’s a link to the article on the Post’s website: National Post Article.  Even better - come in to our showroom at Bayview and Eglinton and see the systems in person!  Then set up an in-home consultation, and one of our designers will come out and measure and help you sort out your garage!

In The News - Style North

September 15, 2008

We recently were visited by Christopher Jones, who runs a wonderful blog called Style North.  They focus on businesses that offer interesting and innovative design and decor options.  Their site is growing, and as time goes on will branch out to give listings in other Canadian cities.  You can go directly to the post about us by clicking here.  Our thanks to Christie Morrison for suggesting to Chris that he check us out.

Closet Feature on Home Day

May 8, 2008

Our friends at City Line have featured another one of our projects this week. We recently did a reach-in closet for Karen Sealy - our original design of the space is below.

sealy021908.jpg

This closet was built using a wood colored melamine finish called “Secret”, and features mixing hanging of long and short, deep drawers for clothing, a shallow drawer for jewelry and a pull out surface for folding clothes on. We also created a tower for storing shoes and purses. The drawers feature standard ball bearing full extension slides, and flat fronts with brushed metal pulls for a contemporary look. A closet like this will typically cost around $2000, including installation and taxes.

Of course, our melamine closets are completely custom-produced for you from the bottom up, so whether you want a solution indentical to this one, or would like to consider this a jumping off point to have your own space redone, please use our Appointment Request Form to request an in-home consultation, or use the phone numbers at the bottom of this page.  If you would like more information, please email us.

Storage Bins

May 4, 2008

We got a nice mention in The Saturday Star On May 3 as a source of storage bins and plastic drawers.  We do carry a variety of sizes of clear storage bins, which you can see for yourself in the stores.  We don’t currently make many of these items available through our webstore, as shipping of the larger sizes can be dicey when it comes to preventing damage.  Please contact us via the Contact tab to inquire about our full selection.  You may view the actual article here.

City Line Laundry Feature

April 12, 2008

Today on CityTv City Line’s Home Day did a feature on the Laundry Room featuring some of our products. Here’s some information about what was shown, and how to order.

This Ironing Board Cabinet sits against the wall at floor level. The cabinet features a cutout at the base that should clear most baseboards, and gets secured against the wall to prevent tipping. Available both in white as shown, as well as in an unfinished paintable wood, the cabinet features a door that slides to the side, revealing a pull up ironing board. The cabinet itself is 17.75″ wide, 43.5″ high and 6″ deep. The 15″ x 35″ board has a steel frame and adjusts to different heights between 35″ and 38.5″ for ironing. This unit retails for $250 (for either finish) and can take 2 to 3 weeks to get in as a special order.

This Ironing Board Cabinet mounts to the wall, and features a drop down board inside. The cabinet comes with an unfinished birch door, which may be painted or stained to suit the decor. The cabinet is 14.5″ wide, 3.25″ deep and 48″ high. The cabinet is sized so that if desired, you may embed it into the wall and mount between studs. The board is 42″ long. This cabinet retails for $350 and can generally be available within a week as a special order. Other variations are available that feature a storage shelf inside or with a transformer so it could be wired into the house wiring. These other variations retail from $750 to $1100.

laundry-valet-02.jpglaundry-valet-01.jpg

This pull down valet rack mounts to the wall and provides a temporary hanging space in the laundry room, ideal for transferring garments out of the dryer, or for storing while you iron. The valet comes in chrome and is generally in stock in our stores, and retails for $35.

We offer many other items for the laundry room, many of which may be viewed and purchased through our web store - click on the shop online tab above. We carry hampers, drying racks and storage units for detergent and the like. Of course we can also build cabinets and shelving systems in your laundry room to suit. If you are interested in purchasing any of the items shown above, or if you would like more information, please contact us to arrange.

Update August 7, 2008: this episode was re-aired today.  The products and prices are still valid.
